A correction letter is not a rejection; it is a list. The plan checker is asking for specific things — a lateral analysis that was not included, a load path that is not clear on the drawings, a detail that references a sheet that does not exist, calculations for a beam that was sized from a table. The fastest way through is a response that addresses each item explicitly, references where the change was made, and gives the reviewer nothing new to question.
We prepare structural correction responses for projects we engineered and, in many cases, for projects engineered by others. Upload the correction letter and the current plan set, and we will tell you whether the comments can be resolved within the existing design or whether part of the project needs to be re-engineered. Responses are prioritized against agency deadlines and delivered as a package you can resubmit directly.

Frequently asked questions
Can you respond to corrections on plans that another engineer stamped?+
Often, yes, after we review the set. If the comments can be resolved with supplemental calculations and details that we take responsibility for, we prepare them under our own seal. If the corrections reveal problems with the original design, part of the project may need to be re-engineered. Upload the correction letter and the plan set and we will tell you which case you are in before quoting.
How quickly can a correction response be turned around?+
It depends on the number and nature of the comments. A handful of detail and calculation items can often be addressed within a few business days of deposit; a missing lateral analysis takes longer. Responses are prioritized against agency deadlines, and your proposal includes a target date.
What if some of the corrections are architectural rather than structural?+
We address the structural items and note where architectural sheets need to change so the sets stay consistent — for example, a shear wall length that requires a window to shift. Your architect can be added to the project to see the response and coordinate their sheets.
Will the revised sheets be signed and sealed?+
Revised structural sheets and supplemental calculations are reviewed by the licensed engineer and signed and sealed where the jurisdiction requires it. Changes are clouded and numbered so the reviewer can find them.
Are corrections included if you did the original engineering?+
Your proposal defines the correction cycles included in the project. Responses within that scope are handled through the same project — upload the letter and the project moves into permit-correction status. Comments arising from design changes made after engineering was completed are scoped separately.
The plan checker wants a lateral analysis for a wall removal. Is that normal?+
Yes. If the removed wall was part of the lateral system, the reviewer needs to see how the seismic and wind load it carried is now resisted. That analysis is a defined scope we can add to the response.
