Engineering Agreement

The standard agreement that governs engineering services for a project. The specific scope, fee and turnaround for each project are defined in its accepted proposal.

    Identifies the engineering firm, the client and the specific scope defined in the accepted proposal.

  2. 2. Standard of care

    The professional standard to which the engineering services are performed.

  3. 3. Client responsibilities

    Accuracy of plans, photos, reports and site information provided; access to the site and existing documents where needed.

  4. 4. Deliverables and use of documents

    What is delivered, ownership of drawings and calculations, and the limitation of their use to the named project and property.

  5. 5. Fees, deposits and payment schedule

    Deposit due before engineering begins, balance due before release of signed and sealed documents, and invoicing terms.

  6. 6. Revisions, additional services and permit corrections

    What the proposal includes, how design changes and additional scope are authorized, and how correction cycles are handled.

  7. 7. Construction observation and field conditions

    Whether site visits are included, and how concealed or differing field conditions are reported and addressed.

  8. 8. Limitation of liability and indemnity

    Allocation of risk between the parties.

  9. 9. Termination

    How either party may end the engagement and what is owed for work completed.

  10. 10. Governing law

    Jurisdiction and venue.

    How the agreement is accepted, including electronic acceptance through the project dashboard.
